  2. Kavitah and members,it's good to use IT in your presentation, but if you are going to do the talking, and referring to the slides,it's not going to be interactive and it's going to be the same as 'chalk and talk'.
Before you do the tree diagram, you've to make sure that the students know the parts of speech well.
I'd suggest you get students to write their(pair work)own sentences following a guide set by you.eg.N Aux Adj...following this pattern, they make sentences. This would make them think critically...
Then using slides, get them to participate in drawing the trees...

  7. To me, the presentations were great with fun activities.just that some groups like 3rd n 4th groups' presentation were very long.n their groups some of the presenters gave wrong answers like for example the grup 4.i rmb one of the member said the audience who gave the answer for homophone is 'and' and 'ant'.she said the answer was correct and she accepted it.but after that many of us including me said the answer given was wrong cuz 'and' and 'ant' have different sound.thats not called homophone bcoz a homophone must have same sound and different meaning of words.and for thr 3rd grup i think i am abit confused so not much of comments...the first second grups went well.WELLDONE!!

  8. To the grups who have to present again,i wish u all good luck n all the best....dun giv up!!!

  11. in my opinion, i feel that the presentation was very good... superb.... as we are still in learning process, for sure sometime we make errors. therefore, i feel that through presentation we will the mistakes that made by us. for certain groups, ms sarada give positive feedback and for the rest she corrected our mistakes. so, for that particular group, i think this is an awesome and good chance for all of you to learn through mistakes and errors. im not saying that you are totally wrong but learn from mistakes will usually create a better person... other wise, the presentation was really good. we learned a lot and at the same time we enjoyed.. thank you my dear friends. wow, now its our turn to present next week. hope we can do the best.. god bless.

  12. hurm.....

  14. hey guys....gd evening...i think last week presentation was ok..

1)EZ n group= they really did a good job..but i think their can improve a bit.if i were in their group, i would suggest them to do some movement to music activity which makes the whole class involve.
    2) tess n her group= they really tried their best. But somehow things went wrong. I would suggest them to ask the students to prepare on ambiguous sentence. during the presentation they students should explain bout the sentence and as presenter if they make mistake they can correct them. this activity might provide better understanding for students on ambiguous sentence. They also can give the students situation and ask them to come up with ambiguous sentence based on the any pictures and ask them to create a song which carries same meaning.

    ReplyDelete
  15. 3) Nantini and group= the activities are good, but I think they can improve on that. First part of the presentation was interesting, but once they ask questions from the students it becomes hazy. If I were the group member, I would suggest them to ask the students to sing songs or any vocal activity which will help the students to improve their pronunciation. Since , this group members have to focus on puzzle they can give the students different type of allophones and ask them to find the same allophone and gather it on the white bout. Thru this activity, the teachers can make the environment of the classroom interesting and they emphasis on Cooperative learning plus the discovery learning.
    4) Valarmathi and group= from my point of view I think they should not waste their money to print out the news paper cutting. They can ask the students to bring the free news paper or any article . If I were one of the group members, I would ask the students to prepare a sentence from news paper article and in class ask them to exchange the article with others students. Once they exchange, the group leader need to act out the sentence to the group members. Thus, this activity will teach the student to arrange words in a correct order and form a grammatical correct structure.
That’s all from me …Hey guys soon I will post about my presentation..You need to prepare on Acronyms and with few task..Please cooperate with us. THnk You..:)

  17. Well done to those who have posted their comments.I'm so happy to see how much you are learning from one another's presentations...you know how to make presentations effective...very good.
Arvint,it's all right to make mistakes. As I've always told you all that that's the way one learns. But, to convey the wrong information to students can't be accepted as this means that one has not researched and discussed enough.
Kavitah and group,I like the interest shown...hmmm,see,how much you've learnt through discussing your topic...that's how one learns.
Sugu and group,I can sense your excitement...you are waiting to present...so highly motivated...
COME EARLY and once again GOOD LUCK!!!

  22. after searching,searching and searching....
finally, i found a song for the part of speech...
its awesome but sadly no tune for the song...
    huh..
ms sarada can we teach the part of speech through song...???????

    ReplyDelete
  23. i'm still searching activity which is simple and can make the the students learn easily...
i found the song for parts of speech...there is a tune for that song
"Here We Go 'Round the Mulberry Bush",

we have to sing by our own...with the simple lyrics about the 8 part of speech...
but mam our group need to do activity..n i have prepared for the diagram..
nw im confuse about this...because this is a song...
    hurm????

    ReplyDelete
  24. Of course,Kavitah, teaching parts of speech using the lyrics of a song is awesome!Instead of singing 'Here we go round the Mulberry Bush',why not use a popular pop song?
Get students to sing the song...ask students to pick out the different parts of speech(lyrics to be shown on the screen)...substitute the words selected with other words that mean the same but belonging to the same category...and then get them to draw tree diagrams for the sentences selected...
    Think about the above ...

  27. Presentation would definitely benefit us. We planned and prepared it, I could recall the information taught by ma'm, but we misinterpreted it. Luckily we did the mistakes during presentation, not final exam. I should do more research before transferred the information. Thanks ma', for the second chance. Hope we will do well in our next presentation.

  29. Yes Fenin, that's a very good way of looking at it.You and your team members really put in a lot of work. There were some very good ideas, etc.,but somehow the content went wrong...anyway,it's good that you guys have another chance to show your understanding of the topic...GOOD LUCK...
Revathi, why are you giving your friends the Acronyms? So what are they going to be prepared for?
Kavitah, remember,a pop song is catchy. What about Taylor Swift's songs...can download any song at any time...as I keep saying, information is just a click away...
'Here we go round the Mulberry Bush',is so 'preschool'and not interesting at all at university level..!

  30. hi guyz.. really sorry for the information that post by me yesterday. it is actually a wrong information. i hope that you all not confuse with that... Thank you and have a fun tomorrow. tc.

  33. so sorry mam..we dont have enough time to change the song with a pop tune,we only have 3 hours to prepare today..we sing the song with some steps..n the lyrics are very easy..n it was very fun too..
we actually didn't plan this,we plan to do question and answer..and then i search a new method to teach it,so that students can understand it more clearly..then "only i got a song"..and we make it shorter,so that it not drag to long,n we did it today n practice..

its already too late for us to change at the last minute mam..so sorry...we realy hope that the others will enjoy this song and learn the part of speech with a song..

    ReplyDelete
  34. thanks ma'm..^^
    good luck everyone..

    ReplyDelete
  35. Agree with Kavita, we have done practising the song just now.. We can't make a sudden change due to lack of time.. We are very sorry Ma'am, if only we been informed earlier, we can do something.. Unfortunately, everything needs to be done as planned..

We really hope that our presentation later can make you and others impressed.. We will try our best to make it fun and interesting as you wish..

    ReplyDelete
  36. we should teach the students as they are in "secondary school or primary concept" rite mam?
why must we choose a song in a "university level?.."
i asked you earlier and you did say yes...
soooo sorry mam, because we lack of time to change the tune...
we really hope that you will enjoy our presentation and the song we created and the students will enjoy too...

    ReplyDelete
  37. err I don't know what to say since there are plenty of comments in this post..my comments might sound same as other

one thing I would like to say, do not worry in making a mistake during your presentation...it's because

    I) Ms sarada will never scold you but explain to why is your present is wrong and what is wrong with your presentation. And that explanation will surely come straight into your head will remain there...

II) Some student learn best through mistake..

p/s thanks for the lemon tree song

    ReplyDelete
  38. hye ms. Sarada & guys,

=My comments is, all the presenter today done their presentation very very very well..
    =Congratulation everyone...

=I had enjoy on class morphology & syntax today, really really enjoy...
especially "on sugha group"- I must make "monkey" sound...
    like "uuuuuu uuuuu....aaaaa..aaaaa"
    haha...

    ^__________^v
Hope u guys success on final exam....

    ReplyDelete
  39. Well,Kavitah and Munirah, since you guys may teach at secondary/university level, that's the reason why I asked you to change the tune to one that is not 'preschool'.
Yes,thanks Din.We are all learning together and in the process of learning when mistakes, it is my responsibility to guide you so that you become better...always be ready to change,adopt,adapt,etc...that's how one becomes good in what one is doing...be flexible...

  45. Sum up for the presentations of these two weeks..

What I can say is my friends really put in a lot of effort because I could see there are plenty of ideas which are really interesting. As Ms.Sarada said, they really deserved to get a big round of applause. ;)

I was impressed by Arvint's group due to the activity "Who wants to be a millionaire". It's really interesting. Not only that, since after the presentation of the last group, I know how to do Tree Diagram in a slide now. :p

Apart from that, even though some friends still using the traditional teaching method. However, they did add-on something to make their presentation effective which is really good.

Lastly, even though my group had made some mistakes last week but luckily my group got the chance to do it all over again. Thanks lots to Ms.Sarada and my friends. It's good to have you all. Love it! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  46. thanks mayyen...information is just just a click away..haha...need to do alot of research, and search the suitable animations and backgrounds..1day before our presentation i didnt sleep to do the slides all..
thanks mam..sure we will take part if you join us mam..hehe
tessa, thats the ways how to draw the diagram through power point, easy rite?..

i enjoyed a lot with you guys...

but what i think is the tables and chairs should be arranged more creatively, some were just standing and didn't help us to arrange those chairs and tables.but i would like to thanks for those who always keep on helping each others, and be very supportive...

    ReplyDelete
  47. Well,Kavitah and Tess,I totally agree with you guys, presentations help us all learn a lot of things from one another...that's the whole idea...

  50. Group 5 Presentation: Acronym

1.The function of acronym in daily usage.

2.The presenter did present effectively as they explain it well, they do some activities, and everything was fun. Their instruction was clear and easy to understand. Also, everyone does enjoy their presentation.

3.Yes, I do understand better on the topic. It is because the explanation was good and for example of my understanding is:
a.ASAP – As Soon As Possible
    b.LOL – Laughing Out Loud
    c.BRB – Be Right Back

4.Yes, I have done my presentation differently. The way I do was different whereby I use song, slideshow and ask them to draw answer on the whiteboard.

5.My presentation was good yet need to improve on communication, proper management of the group and need to study more on the subject so that not only me have full understanding on the subject but also easy for the students to capture.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thank you all for the support and understanding. I really enjoy being with you guys in the class. So sorry if I do any wrong to you. Thanks a lot to Madam Sarada for teaching and guiding us towards better understanding in doing this presentation. I really appreciate it.

    ReplyDelete
  52. the presentation was very good and it will be much better if can we do it in computer wise..the world is improving in technology and hence for that it is good if we can conduct the activities in computer and the students also will show their interest..

  53. 1. Group 5: acronym & content word

    2. The presenter presented it very well. They used multiple ways to present their topic. They have used pictures to do role-play & a "who wants to be a millionaire" like game to attract the students. The methods are very effective.

    3. yes,i do understand the topic better. Now, i can understand the topic well. i've learned some new words especially, the word 'SWAT' which stands for 'SPECIAL WEAPON AND TACTICS'.

    4. yes, we done our presentation differently. we have taught the parts of speech, how to draw tree diagram and lastly we have checked whether they have understand it or not by asking them to draw the tree diagram. We also used song in our presentation which explains the parts of speech.

    5. Well, what to say, of course we did our presentation very well and i would like to thank to my group members who have co-operated well and also to madam Sarada. I would like to kindly apologize to everyone if we have done anything wrong which hurt you personally... Sorry...

For me, I believe i learned a lot from the presentations. The last group was the best with the song and tree digram. getting the students involve is the best part. I understand the topics better now. all of us have different ways of presenting and i learn new ideas from other friends presentation. I think Saiful did a great job too! about our presentation, i think we always have room to improve ourselves, i felt we should have been more organised and cool with the time and not rush too fast. I think we could have done better. i think my members did a great job suga arvint revathi and saiful. and thanks maam for all the help and advice! :) and all the best for finals frens!

    ReplyDelete
  55. all the presentation was really good...honestly,i feel that kavitha's group done a good job..their presentation really very creative and fun...and,i understand all the topic well thru the presentations...all the presentations helps me alot in the way of learning...

  56. i like arvint's group presentation..
d idea for doing role play for acronyms are really creative,it was so fun using the acronym in the role play,it makes me understand well and we have to find it ourself..
and not forgotten the "who wants to be millionaire'..its full of suspense with the background music..
