In addition, just like morphemes "Un-" and "In-", they can be added as a prefix or suffix. When they added to a root word it becomes a Bound Morpheme. 1. Morpheme is the smallest unit of the word that brings meaning for language unit or certain grammatical function. Units of of grammatical function include forms used to indicate past tense or plural. Usually morpheme refers to a single word or root word. This means a morpheme can stand by its own without any prefix or suffix. For example, "written" consist of two morphemes. one minimal unit of meaning is "write", and a minimal unit of grammatical element "en" is indicating past participle form. There are two types of morpheme which is known as Free morpheme and Bound Morpheme.

Morpheme is divided into two which is`morph` is known as a meaning of shape and `Eme` is a meaning of unit.

There are two morphemes in "morpheme"....
    Morph + eme.

    2. When we are looking at word, first of all it should have in our mental lexicon. It is because when it is in our mind then only we can look for its meaning.after that, we need to consider about the spelling of the word and also the pronunciation of the word. Besides that, we also need to have the picture of the word, the usage of the word, how to use it, when to use it and where to use it.

Thus, the same goes to the word of "DOG". When i see Dog, i will look after the image of dog, the meaning of it, when we will use dog and for what we are using the dog. I will also consider which group does dog belongs and so on. The spelling of the word and how to pronouns it.

3.Lollapalooza' what doe it actually mean? Such a strange word for my mental lexicon. When Madam wrote this word in the class, i start to think the meaning of the word. But i couldn't find it because its not in my mental lexicon. As this is a new word for me, i don't have any previous knowledge towards this word.

    4. When we use a word, the four kind of information that we need to know is:
    a) Phonological Information

    b) Morphological Information

    c) Synthetic Information

    d) Semantic Information

Not only that, we can identify the root words, suffixes, prefixes and also guide us to pronounce the word in proper order. 1 ) Define 'morpheme'
    What does 'morpheme' mean?
How many morpheme are there in 'morpheme'?
Morpheme can be define as minimal meaningful language unit. It cannot be divided into smaller meaningful units. In another words, it is the smallest unit of language which has a grammatical function ,for example 'van' and 's' in 'vans', and 'eat' and 'ing' in 'eating' are all morphemes that each of them carries meaning.
There are several morpheme in ‘morpheme’, such as free morphemes, bound morphemes, derivational morphemes, inflectional morphemes and allomorphs. Free morphemes, like town and dog, can appear with other lexemes (as in town hall or dog house) or they can stand alone, i.e., "free". Bound morphemes like "un-" appear only together with other morphemes to form a lexeme. Bound morphemes in general tend to be prefixes and suffixes. Unproductive, non-affix morphemes that exist only in bound form are known as "cranberry" morphemes, from the "cran" in that very word. Derivational morphemes can be added to a word to create (derive) another word: the addition of "-ness" to "happy," for example, to give "happiness." They carry semantic information. Inflectional morphemes modify a word's tense, number, aspect, and so on, without deriving a new word or a word in a new grammatical category (as in the "dog" morpheme if written with the plural marker morpheme "-s" becomes "dogs"). They carry grammatical information. Allomorphs are variants of a morpheme, e.g., the plural marker in English is sometimes realized as /-z/, /-s/ or /-ɨz/.

    2) What are you looking at when you se a word ?For eg ; 'dog' what are you looking at?

When we see a word, we may think about the definition of that word as well as imagine the image of that word. Moreover, we also may feel want to know the pronunciation of the word. We will also imagine how beautiful of that word is. For example, if we are looking at the word ‘dog’, we will immediately imagine about the types or the breeds of the dogs. The different kinds of image will appear in our mind automatically.

    3) Do you know what 'lollapalooza' is?
‘Lollapalooza’ is an extraordinary or unusual thing, person or event. It is an exceptional example or instance.

In linguistics, a portmanteau is defined as a single morph which represents two or more morphemes. For example, “advertainment – advertisement + entertainment”

    1. Define 'morpheme'. What does 'morpheme' mean? How many morphemes are there in
    'morpheme'?
~ Morpheme refers to the smallest meaningful unit of language. It is divided into free and bound morphemes. Free morphemes are those that are independent and can stand alone as words of a language. An example of free morpheme is the word “dog”. A bound morpheme on the other hand is a morpheme that only appears as a part of a larger word in the form of affixes (prefixes and suffixes). Affixes normally carry only grammatical meaning. For example, when free morpheme “ship” [N (a large vessel that floats on water) and V (the act of having materials sent by ship)] is added the suffix “-ment”, it becomes “shipment” [N (a quantity of goods that are shipped together)]. In the word ‘morpheme’, there is only 1 (one) morpheme. It is an independent free morpheme root word that can stand on its own as a word in a language.

    2. What are you looking at when you see word? For e.g.; 'dog' what are you looking at?
~ When I look at a word, I look at the lexical meaning of the word and the context in which the word is being used. When I look at the word “dog”, I see 2 (two) meanings. One is in the noun context referring to the four-legged animal and the other one is in the verb context referring to the act of pursuing a goal intently, like a dog. There are also other contexts such as when it is being used in idioms.

    3. Do you know what 'lollapalooza' is?
~ Lollapalooza is an unfamiliar word to me. However, after I Googled the word, I found out that it refer to 2 (two) meanings. One is referring to a music festival held in America, whereas the other one refers to an American slang in the noun context that bring the meanings of an extraordinary or unusual thing, person, or event.

    4. When you use a word, you require 4 kinds of information. What are they?
~ Morphology, Syntax, Semantics and Phonology

    5. What kind of information can you get from the Book Dictionary?
