*Please take this golden opportunity to do your research and be well-prepared for the next class.
*Homework - Listen to your friends' talking and write down their incorrect sentences in the blog.

ATTNDO NOT post any research findings about Morphology and Syntax and Allophone (research topics for next class) here. There will be another blog post for those topics. This post is only for the last task that given by Ms.Sarada (incorrect sentences that we used daily). Thanks. :)

    Answer: Where are you going? Would you like to join me for dinner?

    Sentence:"...no, cannot..she got class.."
    Answer: No, I don't think that she can make it(or "she can't make it"). She has a class.

    “I need a green colour pen”

    It sounds unnatural and strange to hear someone talk about a ‘blue colour dress’ or a ‘red colour toothbrush’

    “Can you pass me the blue book?”
    “I’m using the red one.”
    “I need a green pen.”
    We do not add the word ‘colour’ after colour names in English

  13. 1. Define 'morpheme'
    What does 'morpheme' mean?
    How many morpheme are there in 'morpheme'?

    A morpheme is the smallest string of sounds
    carrying information about meaning/
    function.

    A morpheme may or may not stand alone. For
    example, the word "unpredictable" has three
    morphemes: "un-", a bound morpheme;
    "break", a free morpheme; and "-able", a
    bound morpheme.

    morpheme = morph(shape) + eme(unit)
    ~ shape of sound/word

    2. What are you looking at when you see
    word? For eg ; 'dog' what are you looking
    at?

    You briefly see how it sounds, little idea
    on how to spell it out, the meaning/
    spelling of the word and the usage of it
    (as verb, adjective or etc). We would also
    able to relate it with our mental lexicon.

    3. Do you know what 'lollapalooza' is?

    Lollapalooza means wonderful/extraordinary/
    unusual/outstanding; We might not the word
    'lollapalooza' because it is not in our
    mental lexicon.

    4. When you use a word, you require 4 kinds of
    information. What are they?

    > Phonological information
    (sounds within words)
    > Morphological information
    (word formation)
    > Syntactic information
    (grammatical structure)
    > Semantic information
    (meaning of words)

    5. What kind of information can you get from
    the Book Dictionary?

    We can get phonology information, semantic
    knowledge, new words, spelling, the origin
    of the root words, how to make sentence or
    grammatical structure from the Book
    Dictionary.

    6. What are the different terms for 'Lexical
    Categories'?

    Lexical Categories also known as part of
    speech, word class, grammatical category,
    or grammatical class.

    7. Name at least 8 Lexical Categories.

    * Noun: any abstract or concrete entity
    * Pronoun: any substitute for a noun or
    noun phrase
    * Adjective: any qualifier of a noun
    * Verb: any action or state of being
    * Adverb: any qualifier of an adjective,
    verb, or other adverb
    * Preposition: any establishes of relation
    and syntactic context
    * Conjunction: any syntactic connector
    * Interjection: any emotional greeting (or
    "exclamation")

    What does 'morpheme' mean?

    - it can be defined as the minimal meaningful language unit; it cannot be divided into smaller meaningful units.

    How many morpheme are there in 'morpheme'?
    - there are nine of them,including bound morpheme, free morpheme, cranberry morpheme derivational morpheme, inflectional morpheme, fossilized morpheme, root morpheme, morpheme based morphology and zeroform morpheme.
    2. What are you looking at when you sea word?For eg ; 'dog' what are you looking at?
    -dog is a noun
    3. Do you know what 'lollapalooza' is?
    Lollapalooza means an extraordinary/ unusual / wonderful / outstanding person, thing, event

    - they are verbs, pronounsnouns, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, articles, prepositions, and auxiliary
